Guild of Historians

The Guild of Historians is an organization which gathers, transports and analyzes information for the city states. They have branches in all of the city states and usually work closely with the local government, though they are an autonomous organization.

They also serve as the postal system for the city states and have locations in most towns where civilians can pick up and post mail.

Structure

The Guild of Historians is divided into three sections: postal service, archiving service, acquiring service.

Postal Service

These are the couriers who deliver the mail between the city states. Civilians can register their address at their nearby guild station and pick up mail from there. There is also a local delivery service for an additional charge.

Archiving Service

This section of the guild compiles and maintains the information that has been gathered. They catalog and summarize the data for the local government. Civilians can access a subset of the information. Members start out as Historians, then are promoted to Archivists. The head of this section at each branch is the Curator. They are also the head of the entire branch.

Acquiring Service

This section of the guild focuses on gathering information and recording history as it happens. They map the world and report back to their branch with any new findings. Members in this section start out as Explorers, then are promoted to Collectors. The head at each branch is the Acquisitor.
