A tantukis a totem that is ritual created in Titan Maw from the remains of a slain creature. It can presented as a symbol of rank in the city.
Only the person who slew the creature with the killing blow gains the benefit of the totem: it will harm anyone else who wears it. More challenging creatures equate to a higher rank.
In addition to slaying creatures, rank can be gained by killing a ranked person and taking their tantuk.
Artificers in Titan Maw are able to turn the remains into a tantuk.
